Refer a patient

Solay provides a short-term intensive Goeckerman therapy [1 -4] service to patients who have psoriasis or eczema. After the patient achieves significant improvement in their condition or after 10 weeks of treatment, we transition their care back to the referring provider, along with our recommended post-treatment maintenance plan.

We currently are only available to patients located in California and Illinois.

To refer a patient, submit our online referral form.

Referral Process

Once we receive a referral, the following process occurs:

  1. Referral is confirmed. We confirm receipt, initiate the referral, and follow-up with the referring physician if more information is needed.

  2. Patient is contacted. We schedule a virtual call with the patient, discuss the treatment and risks, conduct a preliminary assessment, and gather additional demographic and medical information.

  3. Patient receives treatment. Our physician virtually meets with the patient, answer any questions, and confirms whether the patient is a candidate for treatment. Once confirmed, we notify the referring physician that the patient has been accepted and will begin treatment with us.

  4. Patient’s care transfers back to referring physician. Once the treatment service is complete, we send the referring physician the patient’s treatment summary, before and after pictures, and our recommended post-treatment maintenance plan. The referring physician can directly contact our physician to answer any questions regarding the treatment.

  1. Psoriasis vulgaris successfully treated with Goeckerman treatment at home: a patient and physician’s experience

In this publication, Solay's co-founders present a case study on the successful treatment of psoriasis by co-founder Shawn through the use of an at-home Goeckerman regimen. The crude methods employed in this case are not recommended. The reliance on the sun as the UVB light source exposes patients to increased risks and makes dosage control difficult, thus compromising the likelihood of successful treatment. At Solay, we provide patients with the required equipment, materials, and expertise to mitigate risks, while regulating dosage to optimize the likelihood of a successful response.

  2. Modern modified ‘ultra’ Goeckerman therapy: A PASI assessment of a very effective therapy for psoriasis resistant to both prebiologic and biologic therapies

“A total of 25 consecutive psoriasis patients were treated with the Goeckerman regimen until (near‐) clearance or for a maximum period of 3 months, and their weekly improvements in terms of PASI (psoriasis area and severity index) were recorded. Results: In all, 100% reached PASI 75 by 12 weeks of treatment.”

  3. The Goeckerman regimen in two psoriasis day care centers

“Three hundred patients with severe psoriasis were treated with the Goeckerman regimen in two different day care centers. The average duration of treatment to produce over 90% clearing of the skin was 18 days. 90% of the patients remained clear for a minimum of 8 months, and 73% were clear for 1 year or longer.

  4. The Goeckerman regimen for the treatment of moderate to severe psoriasis

This article, co-authored by Solay's co-founder Dr. Wilson Liao, outlines the 24-step Goeckerman therapy protocol utilized at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) clinic.
